Abandon III was a project announced by Thomas Weiling on February 12, 2006. With All This & Wolf 3D still in its early stages, Thomas ventured into a Laz Rojas-inspired project which featured guards, textures and objects from Halten Sie! among others. Episode names were changed and Adolf Hitler was split into two bosses, among other coding changes. These were undertaken by WLHack.

The EXE was finished, and one, probably two levels were finished for the project before it got cancelled on February 13, 2006. Having announced it in a topic, a sheepish Thomas also stated that the EXE was available for those who had interest in it. Furthermore, a screenshot was posted, but this has sadly been lost to the annals of time. The shot was from a level very much inspired by the opening level of Halten Sie!.

The mod was a last stab at creating an atmosphere with numerous changed guards, sprites and walls, though most of them were in the classic Wolf vein. With All This & Wolf 3D looming, and after the good reception of Nazi Operation, Thomas was adamant to shed his tendencies to replace sounds, graphics and guards by the dozen and instead focus on a classic Wolf setup with few, if any, changed graphics or sounds.

Many years later, a different Abandon III was released simply due to the fact that this project had been forgotten. This mod was quickly withdrawn, though. In some respects, that mod's correct title would be Abandon IV.

This mod should not be confused with 2013's Abandon III.

These coding changes were undertaken by WLHack.
