Batmod 3 is the third part in Team Raycast's Batman trilogy and a sequel to both "Batman: No Man's Land" and "Green Arrow". Wolf4SDL and LZWolf (with the help of AstroCreep) have been used as the base. The mod is currently stuck in development hell due to the lack of active mappers. [1]

SDL Development[]

Initial development started using "Green Arrow" engine as a base, using new Villains and enemies prepared prior.

SDL Engine and features[]

Main new revolutionary feature that was added to Arrow engine was "tall walls"/"wall over wall" feature (different texture can be put above the bottom texture for any desired ceiling height). This feature was planned to reflect not only quality evolution jump from Arrow mod but also fit the plot being inside "main" Gotham (not Narrows or almost destroyed Gotham) in attempt to create more realistic tall Gotham buildings. Batman driving levels were also considered. Tall walls also would serve well the Firefly villain and planned fights with him in Gotham Docks and later on the roof of Gotham Police.

Another planned feature is the ability to select between Batman and Green Arrow characters, each with their own weapons, a bit different plot and level order for each (still with alot of map reuse), with some unique maps for each and also alternative path within same map that are accessible only to one of the characters but not the other.

Some other features were considered to make better Batman movement in tall platforms. Some crazy effects were planned to be used to Mad Hatter related locations.

Eventually planned and brainstormed features piled too much for LinuxWolf, and due to miscommunication between him and DoomJedi about the over-complexity - LinuxWolf slowly drifted out of the mod which stalled the mod indefinitely.

Plot[]

Detail plot was written (even with map list) which starts where "Green Arrow" plot ends - in general (without going too much into details) it was a "poor Batman" concept - Batman starts illegal Mirakuru container import investigation at Gotham Docks, at early point of the plot losing all his wealth in Gotham Stock Exchange collapse and needs to deal with Joker and Mad Hatter evil plans (that even directly link to "Green Arrow" plot and ending) while "out of money resources". At first he tries to recover hidden cash stacks in Gotham Docks but Firefly beats his to it (and escapes during his battle with Batman over container piles). Firefly traces lead to Arkham through the sewers, then there is big Arkham prison break of villains which then lead to Mad Hatter and some trippy plot twists and then to final fight Joker and FireFly on the roof of Gotham Bank.

Locations[]

Mod's locations included:

  • Gotham Docks
  • Sewers
  • Arkham
  • Mad Hatter hideout
  • Gotham Stock Exchange
  • Streets of Gotham
  • Gotham Bank - indoor and rooftop

Villains[]

Main planned villains were:

  • Killer Croc - that can swim "underwater"
  • Firefly
  • Hugo Strange or Professor Pyg (or both)
  • Bane
  • Mad Hatter with henchmen and trippy enemies including mad trashbin, mad rabbits, card guards and TweedleDee/TweedleDum
  • Joker with henchmen
  • Secret villains for secret level/s

LZWolf version[]

Batmod3 3
Batmod3 1

LZWolf version was led by DoomJedi with help and assistance of AstroCreep. Art, enemies and weapons were prepared mostly by DoomJedi, but lack of mappers sadly stalled for project indefinitely.

LZWolf version weapons[]

  • Fist
  • Batarang
  • Triple Batarang
  • Shrapnel batarang
  • Gasgun

Doom-Engine version of Batmod 3 - "Batman: Rogue City"[]

Rogue 1
Rogue 2

Doom-engine version based on its intended plot (but featuring villains from all 3 Batmod parts) was released in December 23, 2022 by Ddadd (with support by DoomJedi) as "Batman - Rogue City" mod.
