OVERKILL is a mod for registered made by Thomas Weiling with coding changes by AlumiuN. It was released on November 18, 2021.
Though the mod is a reboot of an earlier, shelved project called Wolf Overkill, the two mods are very different.
Features, sounds and graphics[]
OVERKILL is basically a retelling of the Spear of Destiny and Wolfenstein 3D story, and features 45 levels. 38 of the levels are regular, and 7 of the levels are secret. Coding changes include two new weapons, a great number of extra added enemies, Tesla coils that are switch-controlled, exploding barrels and collapsible columns, toxic pools of waste that causes the player to take damage, a radiation suit to prevent this, God mode artifact, teleports, 3D directional sprites, a motorbike and a slew of other features, including unorthodox multiple floor/ceiling color effects.
All music from Spear of Destiny or Wolfenstein 3D has been retired in favor of various other sources; Blake Stone, Bio Menace, Corridor 7, Rise of the Triad and the DOOM franchise give way for a varied yet still fitting soundtrack; all from the classic 3D shooting or Apogee family.
Thomas recorded all-new boss voices himself, which were edited to fit by Wolf Skevos-Jones. The only other boss whose sounds were left unchanged were those of Gretel Grosse. Because of being in the possession of testicles, Thomas felt he could not make a believable voice for the boss. The SS death scream was also an original groan.
Graphics came from a vast ocean of resources, mostly from the classic modding archive. A large credits text file was attached with the mod. Several new graphics were original, made particularly for this mod, including numerous re-colored Spear of Destiny bosses, courtesy of Wolf Skevos-Jones. He also contributed the motorbike sprite, which originated in Wolf Overkill. Other people who contributed with various graphics were Wolf3DGuy and AlumiuN, and many of the graphics that Havoc originally made for Wolf Overkill were included.

Of the more extravagant features, a "retro" kind of outside atmosphere is implemented; one of AlumiuN's best achievements in the mod.
Genesis[]
The story of OVERKILL picks up after the demise of Wolf Overkill. After shelving the mod in early 2012, its resources languished for a long time, and though some relaunches were considered with Wolf Overkill's coder Havoc still on board, no particular idea ever materialized.
After finishing up a handful of mods in 2020 and early 2021, Thomas decided to look at the surviving Wolf Overkill resources one last time, and found some hitherto unreleased levels made in April 2010. These levels were used as the main catalyst for the mod. All levels were revised, with some ending up virtually different from their original April 2010 guise. Mostly all of these levels were in actual fact older, with the oldest level being started in August 2009 and revised once or twice before being even further revised in May 2021.
The remainder of the levels were wholly new. Before starting OVERKILL, Thomas and Gerolf were collaborating on a mod entitled Triumvirat, which was based on the 3-Episode version of Wolfenstein 3D. It featured a title screen similar to that which ended up in OVERKILL, along with the red status bar. Most of the levels from Triumvirat were never finished in that setting, eventually getting redesigned and integrated into OVERKILL with all its features.
As some of the better levels from the latter stages of Wolf Overkill wound up in 2012's Time to Kill, Thomas initially sought those out to remake them in the same style as the April 2010 levels had been remade. However, this idea was quickly abandoned, as he felt there were enough old maps featured as it was.
Some contributions were featured. Levels 41 and 42 were made by Orka. Level 43 was made by Wolf3DGuy. Level 44 was made by ack, marking his first collaboration with Thomas since Nazi Operation.
