Rising Evil is a mod for registered Wolfenstein 3D made by Ryan de Haast. It was released on February 1, 2002.
Description[]
It was announced in the fall of 2001. The mod was Ryan de Haast's his first release. The mod features 30 levels played in a seamless flow. Many new graphics and sounds are featured, and the coding was also quite impressive for its time, including a new weapon, more keys, different doors and different boxes of ammo.
The source code was later released, giving way to a number of different mods.
A mapping patch was later issued, dating to June 2002.
Reception and retrospectively[]
Initial reception was good. However, with the then-recently released Spear Resurrection and newcomer Wolf Skevos-Jones' projects starting to make waves, the mod quickly got lost. A similar fate was bestowed upon Himmler's SS, which came out around the same time as Rising Evil.
