Scarystein is a mod for registered Wolfenstein 3D, and the sixth mod made by JJ. It was released on July 21, 2002.

The July 21, 2002 release includes only new maps and VSWAP. 5 new levels are featured, played on Episode 1. 3 of these levels were made by Brian Lowe. Some new graphics and a handful of sounds were also changed, carrying a dark horror-based theme.
On July 28, v2.0 was released. This version included coding changes, such as changed ceiling colors, increased health and ammo, and new episode names. Episode 2 was named Christmastein and includes one extra level, taking on a Christmas theme. The coding changes were undertaken by Brian Lowe.
