Shadow Genesis is a mod for registered Wolfenstein, made by Mario Maniac in collaboration with Mega Luigi. Currently available as a beta, it is yet to be finished. The first beta was released in October 2013.
The mod features an impressive amount of enemies, textures and sprites, and features groundbreaking coding such as elevated planes; other coding features include just about anything under the sun.
As with numerous previous mods by the two brothers, inspiration is drawn most obviously from Wolf Skevos-Jones, as well as AReyeP. On the other hand, many wholly new graphics have been made for the mod, in addition to numerous new sounds and impressive coding features. All in all this makes for a very extensive experience.
39 levels are featured in the beta, with the final amount of levels expected to be around 70, making it one of the few Wolfenstein mods to contain more than 60 levels. It should be noted that the levels are made using the 128x128 slate, making for an immersive, vast gameplay.
Both in terms of gameplay as well as actual size, the mod is a massive one, taking up more than half a gigabyte of space. This is mainly because of the size and amount of sounds and music, all using the Wave file format, placed externally in subfolders in the game file folder.
Throughout 2017 and 2018, documented progress was made on the mod, but news have not been heard on the project since October 2018.
