Spear of Bullshit is a mod for the Spear of Destiny demo, made by Nathan Lineback. It was finished in early 1993, and features impressive hex editing for its time.
Description[]
21 levels are featured. Numerous graphic changes are also present. A slightly humorous theme dominates the mod, though gameplay is professionally laid out and rather intense in places.
Date of release[]
If the January 1993 date is accurate, the mod is by far the earliest to modify the code; somewhat. What has been done here is the fact that the Spear of Destiny Demo can now contain the full 21 levels from the registered version. Another major feature is the inclusion of outside music. Though some pieces of music from Wolfenstein 3D is featured - impressive in its own right for the time - some music from Commander Keen makes an appearance as well.
Furthermore, Lineback included a tool with the download which he himself had developed: NMAP. A simple map editor for both Spear of Destiny as well as Wolfenstein 3D, it was yet another extremely early addition to the Wolfenstein 3D modding scene, having been available since July 1992.
Under the radar?[]
Initially discovered by Andy Nonymous and posted on the Dome in early 2005, the mod created some waves due to its apparent old age, its changed graphics and its slightly humorous graphics and sprite changes. As of 2022, Lineback still maintains his website where the mod can be downloaded.
