The Golden Episodes is a mod made for registered Wolfenstein. It was made by Ariel Castañares. It was released on February 13, 2003.

The mod follows an episodic flow, and features 60 brand new levels. The level design is of high quality, and special care has been taken with the aesthetic and color interplay. Likewise, it is also very difficult, with several guards having a higher hit point rate than ordinary Wolfenstein.

Practically all sounds have been replaced, as have most sprites and walls. Some graphics have been lifted from AReyeP (Spear Resurrection) and BJ Rowan's Totengraeber, but some have been altered slightly.

Save for the boss levels, which all share the same piece of music, the remaining 54 levels have a unique tune. This makes for a heavy soundtrack and possibly the most varied in a mod as of this writing. Though some of the music comes from outside sources (e.g. Black Sabbath's Children of the Grave or Megadeth's Hangar 18) much of it has been lifted from games such as Blake Stone, Corridor 7, Rise of the Triad and various pieces first heard in Spear Resurrection. Some tunes are original compositions made especially for this mod, such as the one played in the boss levels.

Ariel has mentioned to some people over the years that he was particularly happy with the ratio screen music, a homemade recreation of the ending credits sequence in HorrorSoft's Waxworks.

The introduction screen has also been changed and many VGA graphics have also been changed. This makes for a very unique atmosphere. The Read This! in-game is also greatly extended, and each episode commences with a message.

It was ported to SDL during late 2012 in preparation for its tenth anniversary. The port was eventually released on February 13, 2013.
