The Untold Story

The Untold Story is a mod for registered Wolfenstein, made by Mäx. It was released on August 30, 2004.

Background[]

The mod is based on the 1993 film of the same name which in turn was based on the real events regarding the Eight Immortals Restaurant Murders that took place in 1985.

Description[]

Taking place in Hong Kong, the mod's atmosphere heavily alludes to this with many new graphics giving off a distinct Asian feel. The many new coding changes include weather effects, textured floors and ceilings, breakable items, animated objects, different enemy behavior (including actors that do not harm the player) and new weaponry, mainly melee-based. 20 new levels are featured spread across two episodes.

Frames where enemies vomit were also featured, making for a grotesque and deliberately over-the-top gameplay, which, in the vein of Sensenmann, also featured a host of unconventional weapons for a Wolfenstein mod, including urine, an axe and a flail. More modern weapons are featured as well, including Uzis. Furthermore, many new sprites have been added, including stock objects used in restaurants (tables, refrigerators etc.) and a great deal of new enemy sprites. Some of these were based on actors found in ISJ's Batman mods, The Final Solution, Tekkoudan and a host of others. The protagonist was based on Steven Trinkl's Operation: Zeitgeist. Some of the then-recent enemy sprites made by MrWolf were also heavily featured.

Music was taken from the video game Blood and also featured songs by 1990's and 2000's artists such as Nine Inch Nails, Rage Against the Machine, The Offspring and Slipknot. Sounds were also greatly changed, some of which include spoken lines from films or other games.
