Initial mapping was begun on the project in October 2011, before being finished with the aid of levels from the failed Wolf Overkill project. The project was also borne out of frustration and dissatisfaction with work on Wolf Overkill.
45 levels are featured, 40 regular levels and 5 secret levels. Boss levels are found on level 32 (with all Grosse siblings manning the fort) and level 40 features Fatface, using the same slightly modified actor found in Quest for the General.
This is the first of Thomas' mods to feature a death artifact and a God mode artifact, as well as an extra treasure item. The dog actor was replaced by a solider sprite which was edited to fit by Thomas himself. Other actors were based on guard sprites by BJ Rowan and WSJ.
The mod's overall theme in terms of graphics was a rather streamlined affair featuring a lot of gray nuances, making for an almost black-and-white feel, especially level 8 which was named Bleak after the effect.
Secret level 42 featured BJ having to kill a copy of himself, losing almost all health. This was inspired by the final level in 1989's Prince of Persia, which was one of the earliest computer games Thomas ever played.
