The Western Wall I is a mod for registered Wolfenstein, made by Spifferaneous. It was released on January 30, 2000.
One of the earliest mods to feature several coding changes, it included new weapons with separate ammo, more than 2 keys, enemies dropping blood as they are shot, increased ammo rate, pickups that either decrease or increase your health in the form of syringes, and light sources brightening the screen when the player gets near them. Floor colors were also changed for the most part.
Seamless level flow is likewise featured, which was relatively uncommon in early 2000. The mod also introduced a guard which was used in numerous mods since, the scientist guard.
The alternating indoor and outdoor areas, the presence of scientists and numerous different pickups and graphics set the bar for what large-scale, themed mods could do in the world of Wolf modding before Spear Resurrection.
An SDL port was finally completed in 2017 by Officer-Michael John.
An early 2-level demo should exist somewhere in the deep space of the internet. This may have escaped the attention of the Wolfenstein 3D Dome news as no news on Western Wall were posted in the latter half of 1999.
On February 10, 2008, a revised version was posted on the Wolfenstein 3D Dome which fixed a handful of mapping bugs. This version replaced the old version.
