Wolfenstein: Special Edition is the fifth mod released by Luke Strauman. In the pipeline for a while, it was released three weeks after his previous mod, Himmler's SS, on February 2, 2002.
The mod features 21 levels played in an episodic flow. Graphics are more streamlined and focused on classic Wolfenstein, though the shotgun from DOOM is featured, complete with reloading.
A brand new status bar with bold numbers was also a noteworthy addition.
