Wolfenstein 3D: TexZK's Story is a mod for registered Wolfenstein, made by TexZK. Initially released on May 1, 2003, the mod was updated a handful of times before seeing its final release in October that year.

The mod was the first actually released mod to utilize weather effects and night sky, including a full moon. Other changes to the code include armor, the running out of gas function where the player can no longer run unrestricted and animated objects. Weapon sprites were new, with textures and other graphics being borrowed from Spear Resurrection and Totengraeber, though a number of wholly new graphics and textures were featured as well.

In the final version, 60 new levels are featured. Level design is mainly quite good in terms of design, and at times also quite varied. Several levels take place outdoors, with the indoor levels containing textured floors and ceilings. No new bosses appear in the mod.

New music was featured, often complimenting the mood of the levels.

Two new weapons are featured; the missile launcher and the flamethrower, with especially the latter looking particularly realistic, complete with gas flame.

Release history

The first version of the mod was released on May 1, 2003 and featured the first four episodes. The language was Italian rather than English.

On June 21, 2003, v0.8 was released, featuring five episodes. This time the mod was bilingual, both available in English as well as Italian.

Finally, on October 4, 2003 the final version was released containing all six episodes. This was deemed v1.0. Seamless level progression was featured, though all six episodes still figured in the menu. As this confused some players, a batch file was released shortly after featuring a command that unlocked all six episodes.
